Over fall break I went to Chuy’s Tex – Mex restaurant for the first time, and let me tell you it was amazing. If you’re a big fan of Mexican food , and you love BIG portions then Chuy’s is the place for you. The food is amazing; it’s very fresh and hot as it should be. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very nice and clean. I really enjoyed the endless amounts of chips and salsa. I’m a huge fan of spicy food so that made me it even easier for me to fall in love.

Overall I would say the reason why Chuy’s is so unique is because of the actual story behind the restaurant. Chuy’s opened on April 16 , 1982 in an abandoned Texas Barbecue joint on iconic Barton Springs Road in Austin, TX. There was seating for about sixty, a women’s restroom the size of a broom closet and a men’s restroom that was outside. The Founders, Mike Young and John Zapp, had a vision of a fun and funky Tex-Mex  (everything’s bigger in Texas) restaurant that served authentic and fresh food in an atmosphere that appealed to everyone. From these humble beginnings Chuy’s was born.

Go try out Chuy’s Tex-Mex on Gunbarrel Road and let us know if you love it as much as I did!
